Sierra Vista Primary has BIG Changes….

Picture1

The first change is now the kids will be Sierra Vista Stars instead of Wee Warriors.  STARS stands for… Safe, Trustworthy, Accountable, Responsible and Respectful and Students.

The next big change is the combining of all of the Parent’s Advisory Councils into one.  It’s going to be exciting and a year filled with the ability to make such a difference in our school and children’s education.  We look forward to seeing all the parents on our campus.

If you have any questions about our Parent Organization, Parent events, etc. please feel free to conact the SVP PAC Coordinator, Kati Hanna either by email at stratsoltn@aol.com or 937-4324.

From the Principal…….

svp-002Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe that we have already seen the end of the summer and are back in school.  I am so excited about this school year.  We have a stronger than ever Parents Group that will, I’m sure continue to make an impact on our schools, faculty and students.  I look forward to seeing the returning parents and meeting the new parents to our school.

We will begin the fall with our biggest and most successful fundraiser, our Walk-A-Thon on Friday, September 25th.  I look forward to seeing all the parents at this fun event.  More details will be sent home once the parents have had a chance to meet and finalize everything.

As always, I welcome any comments, concerns, ideas, etc. at anytime.  You can always email me at bishopd@ruidososchools.org.  I also have an open door policy to all parents whenever a question, concern or just a simple suggestion arises that could make a difference in our school or your child’s education. I thank each of you for your commitment to our school and to your child.

What an exciting time the students and many families got to enjoy while the Outreach division of Explora, the Children’s Museum based in Albuquerque was here on Monday, March 2nd.  There were four different classrooms transformed into “scientific learning labs” for the students of Sierra Vista Primary.  Students were introduced to a range of topics from the Life Cycle, Magnetic Forces, Reflections with Mirrors and the Fascination of Lights.

We ended the hands-on fun-filled day with a Family Science Night.  Many families were able to enjoy more hands on scientific experiments during a fun-filled evening with Explora.  Below are just a few pictures highlighting the fun we had.

  Our 1st Annual Walk-A-Thon

This was our biggest success of the year because it brought parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. to participate in this fun event while learning about staying fit.  Because of this event, we were able to raise enough money to put new playground equipment on our playground and bring in several enrichment opportunities for our students.

Thanks to Lawerence Brothers

for Sponsoring our “Donuts with Dad” Event.

A special thanks to Lawerence Brothers for helping with the 600 donuts eaten during our “Donuts with Dad” event.  Some of the mothers and kids had fun icing the donuts.  Thank you to all of our volunteers that helped with this event.

The “Donuts with Dad” family event was a huge success.  While enjoying over 600 donuts we were able to see so many dads in our hallways.  Thank you to all the dads that took time out of their busy schedules to come and spend the morning with their children.  2009-0071
